USDA/NOP의 유기농 생산, 취급, 제조과정, 그리고 라벨 표준을 따른다면 NOP 규정 아래에서 인증을 받을 자격이 되며 이는 유기농산물생산과정, 유기농산물관리업체, 유기농 완제품 제조사들은 모두 USDA가 인정한 인증 기관에 의해 인증을 받아야 함.

1) "100% 유기농" 제품은 유기농으로 생산된 원료만을 사용해야 함(*물과 소금 제외)
2) "유기농" 제품은 최소 95% 이상이 유기농으로 생산된 원료를 사용해야 함 (*물과 소금 제외)
3) "유기농 성분으로 만들어진" 제품은 70% 이상의 유기농 성분을 함유해야 함 (*물과 소금 제외)
- 제품에 USDA 로고는 사용할 수 없으며 제품라벨에는 3가지의 유기농성분만 표기 가능.
4) 70% 이하(*물과 소금제외)의 유기농성분 사용한 제품은 유기농이란 단어를 제품에 사용할 수 없으며
USDA 인증을 받은 특정 원료에 대해서는 성분표에 유기농성분임을 표기할 수 있음.
